Demand for the device is so astounding that market experts have predicted that by year end 2011, the iPad will have taken 83 percent of the tablet market share in the United States.
All well and good, but if you’re one of those entrepreneur types, the more important question would be, how can one cash in on the success of the iPad? While going out and inventing a competing gadget is a viable proposition, an easier way on how to hitch a ride on the iPad boat is to become an iPad app developer.
THAT being said I work with iPad developers every day and truth be told it takes a LOT more than just developing an app. Unless you are hiring a PR team to help you, you must promote, advertise, and wear all the hats required to get the market to recognize your app. Otherwise it will be drowned out in the din that is the App Store.
To Narrate or Not to Narrate
Much has been written about how iPad apps are, or should be used, with children.
The question of narration always seems to come up in this conversation. At this point in time, I have to confer with Carisa at Digital Storytime, if an app does not include narration they probably will not make it. Most narration can be turned off if the user, or parent prefers, but all storytime apps, at this time and forward, should have narration as a feature. It’s up to the parent as to how it it used.
Join Carisa on her website for her full article, which brings a great prospective to the debate.
